Denver is the capital of Colorado. Denver is named after James Denver. Denver is in the South Platte River Vally. It is in the western edge of the High Plains. The High Planes are east of the Rocky Mountain Range.

The State Gem is Aquamarine. It can be Light blue to dark blue-green. It can be found in the peaks of Mount Antero and White Mountain.

The State Flower is the White and Lavender Columbine. The flower is very rare. The law is that it can be picked but nobody can pick more than 25 blossoms in a single day.
Where The Columbines GrowThe State Song is, "Where the Colombine's Grow". It became the first official state song. John Denver wrote "Rocky Mountain High", which became a state song in 2007.
Greenback Cutthroat Trout
The State Fish is the Greenback Cutthroat Trout. The Greenback Cutthroat Trout was made the State Fish on March 15, 1994. The Rainbow Trout was supposed the State Fish from 1954 to 1994, but it never truly made a State Fish. The Greenback Cutthroat Trout can be found in small creeks, streams, and rivers.
When Colorado Entered the Union
Colorado entered the Union on August 1st, 1876. It happened 28 days after the Centennial of The United States. Colorado was the 38 state and got its nickname because of the Centennial of The United States. Colorado is now known as the Centennial State.

The State Tree is the Colorado Blue Spruce. It is known for it’s beautiful form, and silver- blue color. The Colorado Blue Spruce was first found in Pikes Peak.
Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep
The State Animal is the Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep. It can only be found in the Rocky Mountains. Males have long horns that curve back from his forehead.
The State Insect is the Hairstreak Butterfly. It was chosen the State Insect in 1996. They come from the Southwestern U.S. and Northern Mexico.
